8959. Jones, G. S. April 18. Door and gate closing apparatus.-The door or gate closing spring a, Fig. 2, is secured at its upper end to the hinge gudgeon c by a jaw-shaped clamp b and bolt e. A pin g<2>, to which the spring is secured, is attached to the clamp by a bolt f. When the clamp is fixed in a vertical position, the bolt f is passed through the hole h. The lower end of the spring carries a pin i<1> provided with holes through which passes a pin k carried by the lower clamp fastener l. Arrangements are also described in which the upper clamp is dispensed with, the pin g<2> being secured to the door, while the lower pin i<1>, Fig. 3, may be turned in the bracket i<2> to adjust the tension of the spring, a pin k passing through holes in the bracket and pin securing the parts in adjustment. Or the pin i<1> may be prevented from turning back by means of a spring-pressed pin k, Fig. 6, which engages notches in the pin i<1>.
