Abstract

8430. Forbes, A. April 11. Razors, safety. A holder for double-edged safety razor blades, for use during stropping, comprises a pair of jaws, Figs. 2 and 4, made integral with the cylindrical back portion 2, which acts as a spring, and the connecting rod 3. The connecting-rod 3 slides in the cylindrical tube 4, being actuated by the button 6, and the jaws 1 slide in the slot 5, which is wider at the top than at the bottom. The blade 9 is placed between the jaws, being positioned by the projections 7 and recesses 8 corresponding to the usual holes in the blades, and the back portion 2 is drawn into the tube. The jaws thus slide in the slot 5, the narrow part of which causes the jaws to close on each other and hold the blade firmly. One edge of the blade is concealed by the back portion 2, and the projecting edge can then be stropped in the ordinary manner. According to the Provisional Specification, the back of the jaws may be lined with a soft material, and the connecting-rod may be attached to the jaws by interlocking with a notched recess on the back of the jaws.
