Typewriters. -Relates to means for altering the throw of the ribbon-vibrator in order to bring either field of a two-colour ribbon into use, and also - for throwing the vibrator out of action. The vibrator 7 is reciprocated by a lever 10 which is pivoted to a bracket 12 carried by the platensbifting rail 6. On opposite sides of the lever 10 and at different distances from the fulcrum are two pins, which can be engaged by slotted plates 15, 16 formed on a member 19 which is pivoted on the universal bar frame. The member 19 can be rocked about its pivot 21 to bring either of the plates 15, 16 into engagement with the corresponding pin on the lever 10, or to place both of the plates out of engagement with the pins. The member 19 is held in any one of its three positions by a spring detent 27, and is actuated by a link 32 which is supported by a grooved stud 33. The link 32 may be provided with a finger-piece 35, or may be engaged by an arm 37 on a shaft 36 carrying keys 42, 43. The keys may be coloured to correspond with the colours of the ribbon.
