805. Mieville, M. F. Jan. 11. Carburetting.-In an apparatus for the production of carburetted air, compressed air is forced into a holder g and passes by way of a forked pipe k, provided with a valve on each branch, to the two compartments n, n<2> of the carburettor, one only of which contains hydrocarbon o maintained at constant level. Each of the chambers n, n<2> contains in its upper part drying- material p, such as calcium chloride. The dried air and carburetted air pass by pipes v, r provided with hand-valves to a mixing- chamber x, and thence to a gas-holder g<1>, the outlet J of which is provided with a seating, with which a plug I engages when the bell is sufficiently emptied. The pipes leading into the two holders are provided with non-return valves c, A, and the supply of air to the holder g and of carburetted air to the holder g<1> is automatically controlled by valves d, D operated by the bells, stops h, h<1>, E, F being adjusted to the required positions. The air may be dried between the air-holder and the carburettor.
