Abstract

27,829. Cox, A. J., and Trezona, J. Dec. 6. Driving - mechanism; treadle-levers.-In a treadle driving-gear for cycles and like vehicles, treadle-levers a pivoted on the axle of the rear wheel are each formed with projecting arms b, the ends of which are coupled by a chain b<3> in engagement with a chain-wheel c mounted upon the driving-axle b<1> by means of a one-way clutch, so that by means of chain - wheels c<1>, c<3> and a chain c<2> motion is imparted to the road wheel of the machine. The upward movement of the levers is effected by links d<4> connected to cranks d<3> upon an axle d'. The eyes of the wheels c are screwed right and left handed.
