Abstract

26,872. Graham, E. A. Nov. 26. Telephones.-The magnets of telephone receivers are constructed with two pole-pieces, which are arranged at right-angles to the body of the magnet and on the same side of the diaphragm, and which are adjustable with respect to the diaphragm independently of the magnet. The magnet 1 is fitted with polar extensions 5 to which soft-iron tubes 7 are secured at right-angles. These tubes, which carry the receiver coils 9, are threaded internally to engage soft-iron screws 11, to which locking- nuts 13 are fitted. In a modification, the coil is wound between concentric pole-pieces which are adjustable as above.
