Abstract

14,238. British Insulated and Helsby Cables, Ltd., and Bartlett, W. June 2U. Telegraphs. - Relates to the construction of polarized and other telegraph sounders. The softiron cores are rigidly attached to the brass plate carrying the pillars which support the armature, so that, adjustment being once made, it is not affected by the warping of any of the wooden parts of the instrument. The soft-iron cores c, Figs. 4 and 6, have their lower ends reduced in diameter and a shoulder is thereby formed. The brass plate b is provided with hobs through which the reduced ends of the cores pass, and the nuts n clamp the plate and cores together. The permanent magnet m is fixed to the cores c, by screws entering holes drilled in the bottom of the cores and tapped for the reception of the screws.
