Abstract
18,399. May, R. J., and Borton, R. E. Aug. 16. Road service boxes. - Relates to fastenings for stop-cock and like boxes. The withdrawal of the tool h is prevented until the lid b is closed and locked. To unlock, the tool is inserted through the hole g and through the slot n in the plate d and enters the blind-ended slots i of the socket j, which depends from a rocking plate k. This plate k is mounted between the plate d and a plate l bolted at m to the lid. When the rod is turned, the catch o is removed from beneath the ledge p on the rim of the box, shown from below in Fig. 3, and the part q engaging the stud r turns the plate d about e, causing its tail to register with a slot in the box rim. The lid b can then be raised, the arm v serving as a stop, while the slots i, n are crossed to prevent withdrawal of the tool h. In the reverse locking operation, the projection q engages a stud s to turn back the plate d as far as the stop t.
