17,502. Poppe, P. A., and White & Poppe. Aug. 3. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. A rotary plug valve controls the inlet of air and the outlet of the mixture, and carries a conical cap fitting over the fuel nozzle to regulate the flow of liquid. In a modification, the rotation of the.plug causes the adjustment of a needle valve. Fig. 1 shows a section and Fig. 2 shows a sectional plan of the carburettor, in which the hollow plug valve F is pressed down by a spring M to hold the cap K on the fuel nozzle A. Fig. 3 is a view of the nozzle showing the eccentric holes A<2>, K<3>, by means of which the flow is adjusted. An additional sleeve N is provided to effect independent adjustment of the air inlet and outlet. Movable stops T on the cover serve to limit the motion of the sleeves F, N, or to prevent motion of the latter altogether when once adjusted. In the modification referred to above, a needle valve free to rise and fall but unable to rotate is screwed into the shank F<3> of the plug valve.
