Abstract

Studs a n d solitaires.-A two-part s t u d has a flat shank 1, Fig. 1, stamped from a piece of wire, two opposite edges 2, Fig. 7, of the shank being bevelled nearly to thebottom so as to leave projections 3. The shank is inserted in the slot 5 of a baseplate 4, Fig. 5, and then becomes partly rotated by a circular spring 6 having a straight piece 7 extending across the slot, so that the projections 3 engage with the slot to hold the parts together.
