Abstract
13,045. Gold, E. E. June 5. Couplings, disconnectible.- Consists of improvements in steam-hose couplings of the " Gold " type. Reference is made to Specifications No. 12,580, A.D. 1902, and No. 4351, A.D. 1903. In order to take up wear of the coupling-lugs C, the seating for the rocking gasket E is in the form of an adjustable socket J separate from the coupler head, and may be screwthreaded as shown, or formed without screwthread and driven into position in the coupler. The adjustable socket may be in one piece preferably of vulcabeston vulcanized extra bard, or may be of brass, in which case a packing-ring H, preferably of vulcabeston, is used. The ring H is carried in a groove the edges of which overhang the packing as at N, 0, Fig. 4, and is vulcanized to its backing so as to he practically integral with the socket J. The socket J may be formed with a collar K, or without the collar as shown in Fig. 5.
