Abstract
2042. Broadwood & Sons, J., and Collen, R. H. Jan. 26. Waste from wood-working, burning.-Wood refuse &c., alone or mixed with liquid fuel, small coal, coal dust, &c., is burnt in boiler and other furnaces by apparatus consisting of a " cyclone " or other centrifugal separator f delivering the refuse &c. into an open hopper b, from which it is drawn and delivered to the furnace by a fan a. When the supply from the separator exceeds requirements, the excess escapes from the open mouth of the hopper b ; liquid fuel, small coal, &c. can be introduced at the same point. The supply to the furnace may be controlled by a damper at the inlet side of the fan. The fuel is preferably delivered at the upper part of the furnace, as shown.
