Abstract

15,516. Sichert, A. July 9. Smoke-consuming.-In a furnace consisting of an inclined grate b, an approximately horizontal grate c, and an inclined roof, the latter is formed, over the whole of its surface, with inlets e, e<1> for air, which is supplied to the furnace by side flues d<2>, shown by dotted lines, in the walls of the ashpit and the furnace. The air enters the ash-pit through an opening controlled by a damper g, or it enters the flues d<2> direct through side passages k, also shown in dotted lines. The combustion products pass over the fuel on the inclined grate b, and away through the flue f at its upper end. The grate is fed by a hopper a.
