332. Gautier, C. M. Jan. 5. Tyres, pneumatic.-A detachable tread band C of leather, canvas, &c., fitted or not with an armoured tread A, is adapted for use on tyres of different eizes by having its edges C<1> loosely folded around the retaining-devices D, which consist of rubber, cord, rope, or other elastic material such as coiled spring. The retaining-devices are held between the turned-in edges G of the rim and the beaded edges F' of the ordinary outer cover F. The edges C<2> of the band may be connected by means of an elastic webbing E or the like.
