27,145. York, D. W. Dec. 29. Lift valves for lavatory basins. The discharge valve 14 is normally pressed upon the seat 15 by a spring 16, and is fitted with a casing 5 which communicates with the waste pipe 10 by passages 9 and with the overflow by an opening 8. The valve is opened by raising a rod 27 the motion being communicated to the spindle 13 by rack and pinion mechanism as shown. To hold the valve open, the top of the rod 27 may be fitted with a spring 27<a>, Fig. 3, to engage the top 2 of the basin.
