The togglelevers are pivoted at 20, 21 to collars 22 working on right and left handed screw-threads 23, 24 on a transverse shaft 25. The s h a f t is connected by universal joints 27 to rods 26 which are rotated by handles 30. The tightening-means is shown and described as applied to an automatic coupling described in Specification No. 18,920, A.D. 1905, but is applicable to all kinds of couplings.
