17,243. Aron, H. Aug. 25. Energy meters of the electricallycontrolled clock type described in Specifications No. 6770, A.D. 1884, and No. 8856, A.D. 1887. The pendulum coils a, a<1>, Fig. 1, are traversed by a shunted portion of the main current, while the stationary shunt coils b, b' are provided with iron cores. To avoid errors due to the hysteresis of the cores as well as errors due to irregularities in the speed of the clock-work, the current in the shunt coils and the differential gearing are periodically reversed in the manner described in Specification No. 23,083, A.D. 1893. The cores c, c' may be united by a yoke or they may be U-shaped, but are preferably E#-shaped with the coil on the central branch. Or a single five-pronged core, as shown in Fig. 4, may be employed.
