Purifiers.-Relates to apparatus applicable to gas purification in which water or other liquid is allowed to trickle through a series of hurdles or grids while it meets an upward gas current. The hurdles may consist of bars of the forms shown in Figs. 3 and 4, and may be arranged in alternate or other order below each other, as shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a bar quadrilateral in cross - section having its top b in an horizontal and the sides c in a vertical plane. The bottom d is inclined. In the other form of bar, Fig. 4, the inclined bottom ends in a downwardly-projecting plate e. The top surface of the bar may be provided with cavities f for the retention of water.
