Abstract
16,706. Perrot, E. G. Aug. 31, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Concrete buildings; buildings with metal skeletons beams; floors; columns; walls; arches.-Concrete structures are reinforced by two sets of longitudinal angle or channel irons 1, Fig. 1, connected at the centre by longitudinal plates 2, and separated at their ends as shown in Fig. 4, such frames being stayed apart and connected to metal bars in the floor slabs by U-shaped stirrups 3, Fig. 2. The frames 1 are also secured in position by grooved blocks 6 to which a facing 8 of soft material is screwedfor supporting shaft-hangers &c. Auxiliary strips 10, Fig. 4, are suspended from the floor slabs over but not touching the central portion of the frames 1. The ends of the main frames are anchored, and contiguous ends connected by the alternate bars 1 being formed longer and shorter than the span, as shown in plan in Fig. 5, so that the joints are staggered. The ends 13, Fig. 4, of the transverse main frames are passed either outside or inside the longitudinal main frames. The invention is applicable to beams, posts, floors, walls, arches, &c. Specification No. 12,046, A.D. 1905, is referred to.
