Incandescent lamps.- Holders of porcelain or like material have bayonet grooves 7, 8, which extend along the whole length of the inner surface of the porcelain, to facilitate manufacture. Tubes 11 are flanged inwardly at the lower ends to retain the spring plungers 14, and outwardly at the upper ends to engage shoulders or flared parts of the apertures receiving them. Plates 16 secured in recesses by screws 17, Fig. 5, cover the ends of the tubes. The supply wires are clamped between screws 24 and flanges 18 on the plates 16. These holders are especially adapted for use in signboards and in large clusters, being formed with lobed flanges 3, perforated at 4 for attachment, and with projecting rims 5 for insulating purposes. Fig. 6 shows a modification. A metal casing 31, preferably made in two parts which screw together, surrounds the base 1 and is prevented from turning by indentations which engage depressions in the upper end of the base. The plates 26 which cover the end of the plunger cylinders are contained in recesses 29, separated by a wall 30, and have flanges 27 and screws 28 for attachment of the supply wires. A conduit for the wires may be screwed into a sleeve 32 in the casing.
