Abstract

11,723. Guth, E. F. Jan. 21, [Convention date]. Holders.-A block of porcelain or other non- conducting material is made with a central recess 2 for the lamp socket 4 and with adjacent deep pockets 3 containing the terminals and open on the same side as the central recess for the insertion of a screwdriver or other tool. Separate conducting-plates 6 extend from the inner end of the lamp recess into the pockets 3. Each plate is provided with a small flange so situated within the pocket that the straight end of a conductor pushed through a narrow side hole 11 into the pocket passes between the plate, the flange, and a clamp screw 8 or the like. Turning of the screw to clamp the wire tends to draw the wire inwards, but a ridge 10 on the plate 6 prevents the wire from being carried too far. The plates are connected to the screw socket 4 and a spring contact 7.
