Abstract
23,079. Burlat, J., Burlat, J., Burlat, E., and Burlat, A., [trading as Burlat FrÞres]. April 9, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Driving-gear for motors.-The arrangement of the crank shaft c, Fig. 1, is such that it permits a stroke equal to double the distance between the crank-pins a, b, whether movement is transmitted to or from the shaft. When applied to a rotary engine &c., as shown in Fig. 3, the axis of the shaft c is displaced as regards the centre of rotation of the cylinders, and the speed of the shaft c is double that of the cylinders ; when applied to an engine with fixed cylinders, the shaft revolves about a central axis as well as about its own axis. The arrangement is particularly applicable to rotary explosion engines and the like, as it permits the carburetted mixture, the lubricating- oil, and the cooling-water to be supplied at the centre of the motor.
