Abstract
17,402. Dewrance, J., and Wall, G. H. Aug. 10. Lift valves; pressure-regulating valves; check valves; seats.-Relates to a construction of equilibrium valve, applicable to stop valves, throttle, reducing, surplus, and other valves. As shown in Fig. 1, the valve comprises two disc-shaped heads a, a*, provided with guide-wings a' which work in seatings b, b*. The distance between the seatings is maintained by a skeleton frame b<1>. To enable the parts to be assembled, one of the seatings b consists of a separate ring, and one of the valve heads a* is screwed to the valve body. The operating-spindle a<2> is attached by means of a collar a<3> engaging under lugs a<5> on the valve body. To test the working of the valve while in operation. and to clear away sediment, an axial movement is imparted to the valve by an additional screw spindle F, Fig. 5, which engages a projection on the valve body, as shown. In a modification, the spindle F is adapted to give a rotary motion only. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement in which the spindle F is replaced by a hand-lever G, the lever being held in the desired position by a link g<1>.
