Abstract

16,930. Ellis, G. B., [Soc. A. Vedrine et Cie.]. Aug. 2. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to double helical toothed driving-gear particularly applicable to electricallydriven motor cars. Large double helical toothed wheels are formed of outer members A, A', Fig. 1, with helical teeth of opposite directions, the parts being bolted to and separated by a smaller plain distance-piece B. The holes through which the bolts a pass may be elongated to allow of relative adjustment of the parts A, A', and extra bolt holes may be employed, if desired. The double wheel gears with other teeth C cut on the shaft B' or on a sleeve f, Fig. 4, which is passed on to a reduced part H<1> of the shaft and is provided with a larger tubular extension keyed to the shaft. To allow slight play, arms c fitting into recesses d in a piece E keyed to the driving- shaft F are keyed to the shaft B<1>. Ball bearings b, b<1> are placed in the casing S, and another G<1> iu the casing cover G.
