11,809. Plane, M. G. May 24. Valve gear.-A releasing-gear for the lift valves of steam and other engines is shown in Fig. 1. The double beat valve is raised by the bell-crank lever c pivoted at d. Upon the shaft d are two arms g carrying a spindle h<1> on which is mounted a tripper h having a catch face i which gears with the face f. The other part uf the tripper h is curved as shown, and has an inclined part l which comes in contact with the cam o. The rod r is reciprocated by the engine, and the tripper h moves the lever c until it is released by the cam o, which, carried by the arm m, may be moved so as to allow for the expansion of the valve-rod and other defects.
