Application Of Or Painting With Fluid Materials
(AREA)
Abstract
8232. Dietrich, G. April 9. Ornamented paper, compound paper.-Ornamental articles, such as picture frames, boxes, bowls, cups, and the like, are made by covering leathery cardboard or similar material on one or both sides with thinly-rolled tin, slightly wrinkled; thymol or like substance is mixed with the cementing-medium. The material is then subjected to gradually-increasing pressure, while damp, to form the desired articles and relief patterns, the thymol giving a bluish tint to the tin. The tin is next painted or varnished black, or to represent brass, copper, &c., and is finally polished. An extra thickness of cardboard may be applied after the preliminary pressure.
