1938. Lingard, H. Jan. 26. Spigot-and-socket joints.-Relates to a joint applicable to ordinary earthenware drain pipes of cylindrical or oval shape. The pipe A has a socket B provided with a grooved flange C extending about two-thirds round its periphery. The spigot of the next pipe is laid in the groove resting on the edge C<2> to which it is cemented. Liquid cement is then poured in at the gap to fill the groove, the upper part being completed by hand. In a modification, the flange C is continued right round the socket and the cement is poured through a hole in the top.
