Abstract
68. Jackson, E. E. Jan. 1. Driving-gear; crossheads. - In a motor-roadvehicle internal-combustion engine or in any other reciprocating engine, the crosshead is formed with a cam-slot, as shown in Fig. 1, which receives a crank-pin and so transmits motion to the main shaft. The cam-slots may be of various forms, as shown in Figs. 4, 5, and 6, in order to give the piston any desired motion relatively to the crank shaft. The crossbead may be in two parts which form a slot when bolted together.
