Abstract

18,623. Newman, W. H. Aug. 20. Eccentrics.-Comprises the application of variable-stroke eccentrics of a particular form to the actuation of multiple-plunger pumps. The eccentrics E fit over the squared portions A<1> of the driving- shaft and are moved transversely across the shaft by plungers C actuated by wedge surfaces D' formed on the shaft. The longitudinal motion of the shaft may either be effected by the handoperated mechanism shown or by power gearing operated by the shaft itself. Various modifications of the wedge surfaces and of the parts of the plungers which engage with them are described.
