Abstract

190,327. Pinder, E. C. Nov. 10, 1921. Stands or supports for vehicles. - An appliance for extricating vehicle wheels from soft ground consists of a member secured to the side of the wheel and having a surface eccentric to the tread and adapted to bear upon such ground. Plates G, Fig. 4, are secured by metal straps g to similar plates on the opposite side of the wheel and by chains H to the wheel. In a modified form, the appliance consists of a cam-shaped member J, Fig. 5, secured to the wheel by bolts band plates e on opposite sides of the webs of the spokes. The member J consists of a channel filled with wood. In a further modification, a plate L, Fig. 8, carrying a cam-shaped plate K on brackets k is secured to the wheel by bolts p and has gripping strips m extending across the tread. A plank may be used between the appliance and the ground, as shown in Fig. 5. The appliances shown in Figs. 5 and 8 may be secured to the hub, and one or more appliances may be used at one or both sides of the wheel.
