21,131. Barkham, K. Oct. 2. Clutches.-Relates to reversing-gear specially for screw propeller shafting of marine motor engines, also for machine or other shafting, land motor carriages, &c. The motor shaft A carries a flywheel C fitted with a female cone, or a separate femaleconed wheel, and the propeller shaft B carries the corresponding part D. A drum E secured to the wheel C carries a coned disc F, and a sleeve G carries bevel, friction, or toothed wheels K upon two or more arms J. In operation, when the parts are in the positions shown, the shaft B rotates with the shaft A. By means of a lever L and collar M', the shaft B may be moved so that the disc F drives the disc D through the wheels K in a reverse direction to the shaft A. The engine runs free when the lever L is in the mid-position.
