Draught, dust, and weather excluders. -In a groove at the bottom of a door is housed a roller, carrying a tangential or radial plate, which is raised and lowered by rotating a pinion at one end of the roller axis. Four methods of operating this pinion are shown. A rack g, Fig. 2, is placed on the floor near the door jamb so that, when the door a is closed, the plate e is brought down against the floor, but on opening the door, the spring k, not shown in Figs. 3 and 5, raises it clear of the floor. The rack h, Fig. 3, slides and takes against the jamb. A pivoted lever s, Fig. 5, has a toothed segment at one end and a pin at the other which also takes against the jamb when the door is closed. The pinion f, Fig. 6, is operated by a vertical rack on a rod l, which carries a second rack at its upper end gearing with a pinion n, to which is pivoted a lever p, connected by springs r to the handle m. On turning the latter in either direction, the plate e is lifted from the floor.
