Abstract
16,373. Armstrong, Whitworth, & Co., Sir W. G., and Noble, S. W. A. July 24. Loading-appliances.-An ammunition hoist consists of semi-cylindrical trays a carried by one or more endless chains b, the trays picking up the ammunition from a platform j and delivering it at the top on to a fixed tangential platform l. The ammunition is secured by catches e, Fig. 6, operated by sliding bolts f, which are retained in the open or closed position by spring catches g, and are automatically operated to secure or release the ammunition by cams h, Fig. 1, engaging with projection f<2>, Fig. 6, on them. When the hoist is used for lowering ammunition, the chains are preferably operated by the weight of the ammunition, and are controlled by a brake.
