"'33. GQELEQEATIGEY ill? NEW? YORK.
To all whom it may concern {Be it known that Axes Wrmw ject of the King of Sweden, re g so Hopetown House, Lloyds avenue. 311 the city of London, England, have invented new and useful lmprovemeois iii Pulley-- Blocks, oiwhich (he fiollowiiig; is sspec1fication. v
Multiple shesv d pulley blocks as at pres ent constructed when. being; raised. by the suspending; rope with no attached is them. frequently zip up and. 'zopple the clzle. emi
it end.
According to this invention this object-ion is overcome by employirig eccentric instead of concentric sheaves as is usual in sus pended pulley block. The eccentric sheave may be either above or below the other two but the rope or ropes must be so rove that the fastest moving part or parts passes over the uppermost sheuve or sheave Usually three sheaves are provided the middle sheave being eccentric to the two outer ones which are coucencric' other. The upper oloeir soiueliz'ses provided with an eccentric sliiesve.
Preferably one of the rope is attached to the bottom of the up ocr pulley bloc is so rovethe: ilie outer or fastest roe 1.5g part of the rope passes around sheave of the lower block and, prei el ly also the sheaves in both the upper and lower blocks turn on parallel the so centric sheave or sheaves preferably being made to overlap the others to economize space and render theoperstion more easy.
In order to illustrate the invention iwo examples will be given.
Figure 1 shows. clisgmmuisiiicell pulley blocks and a. suspcnsling rope fi ilfiSlI'llCllQtl and arranged in eccoroisnce with one form of my invention, curl. Fig. 2 1S 2, similar ca'lly at Fig.1 the u "are slm'iler each consisting of three view of a. modification.
In the first example shown (lis'gr'sminstiper lower ole lac sheaves as above lescrihefl the eccentric shea e f Serial the upper lolocl: being at the bottom and the eccentric sheave of the lower lolmk being at the top. The rope is fixed to the upper Jlock and is led. around the outer sheave 4 of the lower blcclgthe sheave 1 of the upper loiocl: the sheaves 6 and 3 of the lower and. upper blocks, sucl lastly over the middle sheaves 5 cool 2 of the lower'end upper blocks, its end being led to the place where power is supliecl. Erefere'bly as shown the sheaves 2 soul 5 are mscle to revolve about which are pereliel wish the sues of the sheaves l and 3 eucl i and 6 respectively, em; as shown the sheave 2 is made to over lop the sheave 1 and 3 aml the sheave 5 is mecle to overlap the sheaves 4: end 6.
In the second example shown diagrammatically at E2 the eccentric sheave of the lower hlock'is at the bottom end the upper block is provided with four sheaves which may be concentric and both ends of the rope are hauled upon. In this case tracing from one end of the rope to the other, it cusses over an end sheave 1 of the upper block, an end sheave 5 of he lower block, a, middle sheave 2 of the up er block; the middle sheave 6 of the lower lock, the other middle shesve 3 of the upper block and lastly over the other outer sheaves 7 and. i the lower and upper blocks.
What ll claim is:-
1. The combination of an upper pulley block having; s plureliiy of sheaves, a lower pulley block hsving e. lureliey of sheaves one of which is eccentric to the remainder, and a rope attached at one encl to the upper pulley block and so rcve in the-sheaves of the upper and lower blocks thetthe outer part of the rope which moves fastest asses around the upper sheave of the lower lock.
2. The combination of an upper pulley v M16. lower blocks that, the outer pert-'01 the rope which moves fastest passes around the shame of the lower hloclu .eccenuric ta the 1"- S. The cambination m an upper block luwer blocks that the outer Pm'toftha rope having a, plurality (if sheayes and a. lower block having a plumiity of sheaves all turning abmlt parallel as but one of which is inch)! and which oyer laps the other sheaves 01" said block, and a rope e30 rove in 7 m shsaves of the upper ami which moves fastestpasses around the upper sheave of the lower block.
