Bale-tie fasteners.-A bale-tie fastener or buckle consists of the rectangular plate a, Figs. 3 and 4, of metal or other material, containing a slot b, one side of which is bent out to form a projecting lip a'. The ends c<1>, c<2> of the hoop are passed through the slot as shown in Fig. 4 and drawn tight. The plate a is then turned into the position shown in Fig. 3 with its flat side against the bale. The lip a<1> may be dispensed with, in which case the plate is made thicker. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the end c<1> is passed through a second slot b<1>. In the modification shown in Fig. 9, the end c<1> is retained by the rod a' passed through the loop in the hoop. The slot b is preferably flared outwards. The turning of the buckle may be ejected automatically by the tension of the hoop. The slots b, b<1> may be open at one end.
