Abstract

24,931. Thompson, G. Nov. 13. Lift valves. - In order to ensure the proper closing of taps or cocks of the screw-down type, a loose cup-shaped valve is used, the annular edge of which is forced down upon a leather, rubber, or vulcanite washer fixed in an annular groove b<2> in the valve seat. The inner wall b<3> of the recess may be raised to form a guide for the valve. The annular recess may be made in the end of the valve - spindle, the loose cup-shaped valve being placed on the horizontal partition b of the tap body. The valve-stem e<2> and screw spindle d may be connected by a screw which passes through the spindle into a circumferential groove in the valve-stem.
