Measured quantities, delivering. - The Figure shows an apparatus in which the quantity of liquid drawn off at i bears to the capacity of the diaphragm chamber b a ratio which may be altered as desired by turning the cock u. The slide a being pushed to the right, the bell crank depresses the lever n, and the supply valve e closes. The slotted arm o pushes down the trigger p until the spring p<1> passes the pivot of the trigger and causes it to strike the lower end of the slot in the arm o, thus pushing it down, and causing the lever r to open the valve s. The contents of the chamber b then flow through the pipe t to the discharge i, and the diaphragm g sinks until the valve h opens, thus allowing the liquid to flow from the passage c to the discharge i. When the liquid ceases to flow from the chamber b, the slide a is drawn back, thus lifting the lever n, opening the valve e, and closing the valve s, as shown. The discharge i and chamber b are thus placed in communication with the source of the liquid, and the chamber b fills at a speed determined by the position of the cock u, while the liquid flows freely from the discharge i until the rise of the diaphragm g closes the valve h. The diaphragm may be replaced by a float &c., and the valve h may be moved by an electrical or mechanical relay operated by the emptying and filling of the chamber b. According to the Provisional Specification, the apparatus may be used in combination with a coin-freed mechanism.
