20,309. Robinson, C. Sept. 21. Measured quantities, delivering.- A measuring- vessel for liquids is filled and emptied by actuation of a lever, the movements of which are counted electrically. The vessel 1, F i g. 4, depends from a duct 2, which may be adapted to be fitted into the side of the supply cask &c., and may have a pillar 5 to strengthen it ; or the liquid may be conveyed to the duct by a pipe 3. A cock 6 at the upper end of the vessel, having a two-way or angled passage, and a cock 7 at the lower end 1 are connected by levers and a connecting-rod (not shown), one lever, preferably the lower, having a handle attached to it. The lower cock is closed, when the handle is raised, before the upper is opened. At the same time that the upper cock cuts off the supply of liquid, it may open an air inlet so as to allow the liquid to issue freely through the lower cock. Preferably, however, an air valve of the self -closing float type is provided. A small passage 16 communicates with a chamber 11 containing the float 10, guided by a spindle 12 and carrying a rubber valve face 14. A grating 17 is provided to break the force of the entering liquid, and a pipe may be fitted, if necessary, to carry away any froth. A short tube 32 is screwed into the passage 16. Alternatively, the measuring-vessel 1 may communicate by means of a pipe, preferably having a self-closing valve, with the upper part of the storage vessel. The lower lever 19 extends into a case 18, Figs. 4 and 7, and, when the handle is raised, strikes a spring dog 20 on an arm 21 just before the liquid is admitted into the vessel. A contact 22 on the arm is thus thrown against a contact-spring 23, and an electric circuit completed through an electromagnet (not shown), the armature of which (by means of a pawl) advances a ratchet-wheel by one tooth to actuate the counting-mechanism. In its return movement, the lever 19 passes over the catch 20 without moving the arm 21. If preferred, the apparatus may be arranged so that the measuring-vessel is filled when the lever is lowered and emptied when it is raised. The registering-device has two hands, which can be set to zero, moving over concentric dials, and may also be provided with an independent hand adjustable from outside. Ducts from two or more store vessels may be led to one delivery tap, the duct 2 being, if necessary, of oval or other shape. One or more delivering taps, for instance for different liquors sold at the same price, may be connected to the same registering-appliance, or one registering - appliance may have several wheels acted on by different magnets.
