Abstract

9051. King, T. S., and Davey, Paxman, & Co. April 18. Piston pumps.-Comprises a combined air and circulating pump. The cylinder A is surrounded by two annular chambers B, C, and has an independent chamber D below, but open to it, and another chamber E above, but closed to it. While the cylinder and plunger are common to both pumps, the two upper chambers belong to the air pump only, and the two lower chambers to the circulating-pump only. The annular chamber C is divided into inlet and outlet chambers by a diaphragm c, and is provided with a suction valve F and discharge valve F<1>. The chamber B forms the air-inlet chamber, and has ports b leading into the cylinder just above the piston when at its lowest point. The chamber E is the air-discharge chamber, the air being forced into it through valves H in the plate closing the upper end of the cylinder.
