7714. Cowburn, J. April 2. Loom stop-motions.-Relates to means for use in stopping looms when shuttle boxes, which are about to receive incoming shuttles, already contain shuttles. A rod i is connected at one end to the loom handle a and at the other end to a lever h carrying an adjustable stud o, which is adapted to be struck, during the backward stroke of the lay, by an arm f controlled by the swell c. The rod i and lever h are connected by means of a universal joint m. In another form of stop-motion, an arm corresponding to the arm f strikes against a spring- controlled contact-piece, which is thus forced into electrical contact with a fixed contact-piece forming part of an electric circuit. If desired, the stopmotions may be made to effect the disengagement of clutches on the driving-shafts of the looms.
