Steam separators; feedwater, purifying.-An apparatus for separating solid and liquid particles from gases consists of a casing having an inlet A for the gas or vapour, a tube directing the gas on to a plate C, a series of conical perforated baffle plates E, F, G, an outlet B for the purified and dry gas, and a valve outlet H for for the condensed and separated impurities. The velocity of the gas is reduced by striking against the plate C. The inlet and outlet for the gas may be differently situated. The apparatus may be used to separate oil and water from the exhaust steam of a steam engine, on its way to a condenser or a feed heater or purifier ; or to remove moisture from live steam.
