Abstract

1242. Bousfield, J. E., [Soc. des Br¹leurs Roger]. Jan. 16. Soldering. - Vapour burners for solderers' lamps comprise an annular vaporizing-chamber formed between a tube A, Figs. 1 and 4, and a cylindrical plug B therein. The choking of the nozzle o by impurities is prevented by the use of perforated-metal and wire-gauze discs E, C, f, and by forming intercepting grooves e on the head of the plug B. The vapour mixes in the tube H with air entering through the tubes I, the mixture partly passing around the baffle J to the burner head, and being partly deflected by the baffle J down the passages M, N, o to the jets j, which play upon the vaporizers A. The burner is started by burning alcohol in the cup R, the flame ascending the perforated tube V to ignite the main burner. Fig. 2 shows the burner as adapted for heating purposes.
