Bedsteads; chairs spring fabrics, connecting to frames.-The frame consists of a central part A, to which are pivoted two end parts a', a<2>, having cross bars a<3>, a' at the ends. Within the frame is fitted a wirework bottom or seating, which is also in three parts D, d<1>, d<2>, the parts d<1>, d<2> being connected with the bars a<3>, a' by springs d<3>, and with the central part D by perforated blocks d', Fig. 5. Rods E are threaded through the central perforations d<5> in the blocks, the two extreme blocks at the sides of each set having smaller perforations than the others, so that these blocks abut against shoulders on the ends of the rods to stretch the seating. The ends of the rods move in U-shaped sockets F on the frames a<2> and A, the mouth of the sockets, when the frame is stretched as shown in Fig. 2 to form a bedstead, being turned downwards, so that the bars will have free play downwards. The sockets on the part a<2> will, when the frame is folded to form a chair as shown in Fig. 4, be turned so that the mouths are upwards, so that the bar E at the front of the chair is held against downward pressure. The frame is fitted with legs, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, which may be suitably strengthened with cross-bars. Pivoted rails C, C' to serve as arms for the chair may be provided.
