UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADRIAN DE PINIEC-MALLET, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FRAME FOR EXTENSIBLE COUCHES OR BEDS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,488, dated December 24, 1901.
Application filed September 13 1901. Serial No.75,354. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ADRIAN DE PINIEC-MAL- LET, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Frames for EX- tensible Couches or Beds, of which the following is a specification.
This design relates to a frame for extensible couches or beds.
In the drawing accompanying and forming part of this specification the figure represents a perspective View of this frame for extensible couches or beds.
Referring to such drawing, the leading features of this design are a pair of end frames each comprising a support or leg and a mattress-supporting bar or member, such end frames being connected by side bars. These end frames 2 3 each comprise a mattress-supporting member or bard and a depending support or leg 5, such end frames being connected by a pair of side bars or members 6 7, each shown bent upward at each end, so that the middle portion of each bar is represented as occupying a plane below the ends thereof, thus forming drop side bars. Each drop side bar is represented connected with the end frames by a pair of diagonal reinforces or braces 8 9, respectively, running from each such side bar to the end frames.
In the drawing the end frames are represented as formed of angle-iron, the legs of which have casters, (shown in dotted lines,) such legs being represented as being connected by a tension or tie-rod, likewise shown in dotted lines, which runs from one leg to the other below the point of attachment of the drop side bar 6 with such end frames, the mattress-supporting bars having at their ends opposite to the legs rests or supports, such as rolls, also shown in dotted lines. The mattress-supporting bars 4 are represented as provided with holes to permit the attachment of the ends of a wire or spring mattress, which, owing to the drop formation of the side bars, will thus be above such bars, and so insure yielding edges to such mattress.
I claim-=- The design for a frame for extensible couches or beds, substantially as shown and described.
ADRIAN DE PINIEGMALLET.
