Abstract
2985. Stralendorff, F. H. A. von. Feb. 12. Water-tube boilers.- Relates to boilers with close - ended tubes having internal circulation tubes connected to a divided header, and more particularly to forms of joints between the tubes and the header. As shown in Fig. 2, a perforated sleeve I, with a coned enlargement at the back and a coned nut J at the front, extends across the header, and forms the support for a pair of concentric tubes, serving at the same time as a stay. The back end is also coned internally to receive the flared end of the outer tube G, which is expanded by the coned end of a perforated liner K. The head of this liner forms a partition in line with the division wall E of the header, and also forms a socket to receive the flared end of the inner tube H, which is expanded by the perforated hollow plunger L, when the latter is pressed inwards by the plug N. The sleeve I may be screwed into the back-plate of the header as shown in Fig. 5, and its front end may project through the front plate and receive a flat-faced nut.
