Abstract

22,829. Liddle, J., [Grayson, W.]. Dec. 14. Stoppers ; refilling, preventing.-The hollow plug 2, formed with liquid outlets 12, 13 and air inlets 18, 17, and provided with a valve seat 7 for the valve 10, is inserted in the neck after the bottle is filled, and is locked in position by the spring ring 3 engaging in grooves in the neck and plug. The spindle 9 of the valve 10 carries a weight 11, and passes loosely through the spiders or guides 8,14, which permit a slight lateral movement of the valve, so that it can be shaken loose in case it sticks on its seat. A ball 16<a> in the inclined recess 16 serves to move the valve to its seat, if it is attempted to refill the bottle when holding it in a horizontal position with the nozzle 13 turned upwards. When the bottle is inverted, the valve 10 is displaced, and allows the liquid to flow out through the passages 12, 13, air entering through the passages 18, 17 and the open valve. An air channel 19 is also formed io the side of the neck, to prevent obstruction of the entering air after it has passed the valve.
