Abstract

12,412. Gottlieb, F. J. July 10. Stoppers; refilling, preventing.-The neck A of the bottle is fitted with a sliding tube C, closed at the upper end a<2>, and normally closed at the lower end by the float valve D, the movement of which within the tube is limited by the stop ring E. The lower end of the tube is also o adapted to act as a valve in conjunction with the seat a<3> in the neck, and a light spring F may be provided to aid in moving the tube on to the seat. When the bottle is inverted, the valve D opens, and the tube C slides outwards, under the pressure of the liquid, until the port C<2> in its side registers with the lateral port shown in the neck. From this latter port, the liquid flows through a horizontal annular passage in the neck, around the protuberances h<2>, h<4>, and through the passage i in the conical cap I to the outlet, this arrangement of the passages being adapted to prevent tampering with the valves by means of a wire &c. The mouth of the bottle is closed by a cork &c. A<2>, and the cap I is secured by the casing G, which is screwed on and cemented to the neck. In a modification, the outlet passages are formed in a separate plug integral with the cap I, which is cemented to the neck. The lateral port a in the neck may be protected by a valve J, guided in the stem K of a supporting-ring, and adapted to open outwardly against the action of the spring M, when the contents are being poured out. The valves C, D prevent refilling either in the upright, or (by pressure) in the inverted, position of the bottle.
