8941. Stewart, D. May 15. Sash fastenings. - A plate 12, having a recess, which may be formed by folding over the plate is preferably attached to the lower sash 11 of a window so as to cover the meeting-edges of the sashes. A bolt 13, pivoted to the other sash 10, is brought round to engage the recesses on the plate 12 when it is desired to fasten the window. The overlapping of the plate 12 prevents the bolt from being operated from the outside. An inclined slot in the plate 12 is engaged by a projection 17 on the bolt, when the bolt is operated, to draw the sishes together and prevent rattling.
