5788. Clifton, C. H. March 28. Sawing.-Relates to a band sawing-machine adapted for sawing work of considerable length by turning the table and the saw blade through an angle of 45‹. The table B, Fig. 1, may be turned by screw gear &c. on a boss C' recessed into the frame C. A guide fixed on the table turns the saw-blade D through the same angle at E ; another guide at F is set to turn the blade through the same angle. The blade between E and F is thus turned through the same angle as the table. The sliding top A of the table on which the work is fixed, is fed by a leading-screw actuated by bevel gearing P N, M 0, from the main shaft, the angle of the shaft J changing to allow for the movement of the table A.
