Abstract

15,438. Anderson & Co., G., and Grice, A. G. July 4. [Addition to 29,441/12.] Sawing. - The trunnions of a bracket, in which a band-saw pulley is arranged so that its axis can be slightly tilted by the means described in the parent Specification, are each carried in a slidable block 3 which may be moved by a screw 4 so as to apply or remove tension to or from the band saw. The screws arc slidably connected to worm-wheels 6 by which they are driven from a hand-wheel 14 and worms 12. A collar 11 on each screw engages a ball thrust bearing 10 when the pressure is relieved; when the screw is rotated to apply tension, no thrust occurs in the ball bearing, but a weighted bell-crank lever 15 acts on the screw 4.
